Traffic measurement

Fiber Tool Lab records first-party pageview and interaction data to understand traffic, improve content, and separate operational testing from public visitors. Records may include time, page and landing path, page title, referring host or internal path, UTM campaign fields, browser, operating system, device class, screen and viewport size, language, time zone, session activity, approximate engaged time, maximum scroll depth, and labels or destinations of clicked links and buttons. A separate crawler-discovery stream records the time, requested URL, HTTP method and status, referrer host, User-Agent claimed by recognized search and AI crawlers, and whether the source passed an available official verification method.

Pseudonymous identifiers and traffic labels

The server creates rotating visitor and network hashes from connection data. The hashes change monthly and are not raw IP addresses. A random browser-session value is separately hashed to group pages and events into a session. Traffic may be labeled visitor, owner, agent, bot, or unknown so the operator can exclude its own checks. Historical records created before this labeling system remain unknown.

Local browser storage

Session storage keeps a random session value, landing page, campaign fields, an optional short-lived agent label, and for up to two hours the internal page and button that led to the inquiry form. The site owner may deliberately set a signed, Secure, HttpOnly owner cookie from the protected operations dashboard. These values are first-party and are not advertising identifiers.

Research requests

When you submit the form, we store the details you provide, submission time, pseudonymous session and visitor hashes, traffic label, original internal source page and button, landing page, and available UTM campaign fields. This lets us distinguish genuine inquiries from owner or agent tests and understand which research created the request. We do not store a raw IP address in the inquiry record. Do not submit confidential designs, credentials, payment-card information, or regulated personal data.

Purpose and sharing

Data is used to operate, secure, measure, and improve the site; prioritize research; respond to requests; and evaluate legitimate commercial interest. We do not sell personal contact details and do not use third-party advertising trackers in this version. Data may be disclosed when legally required or to infrastructure providers acting on our behalf.

Retention and security

Pseudonymous traffic, session, behavior-event, and crawler-discovery records are retained for up to 400 days. For crawler verification, the connection IP is passed only to a local in-memory check against an official IP range or a reverse-and-forward DNS result; the raw IP is not written to the analytics database or dedicated crawler record. Like most hosting systems, the web server may temporarily keep restricted security and access logs that include connection IP addresses under server log-rotation policies. Inquiry records are retained while relevant to the request or business record. The operations dashboard is protected by authentication, CSRF controls, rate limits, HTTPS, and server access controls. No internet service can promise absolute security.

Your request

Use the contact form and select "Correction or documentation" to request access, correction, or deletion. Because traffic identifiers are pseudonymous, we may not be able to connect a traffic record to a named person without additional information. Identity verification may be required.
